I knew I wouldn't be good at keeping this updated. I keep thinking of all I want to write and that I don't have enough time. I need to just write about the now, but I feel like I need to catch ppl up, just in case they care or something. :) So, quickly...here I go...
Chris and I (along with Paris) drove home for Christmas vacation. It was good to see people, but way too much stress and driving (which we knew would happen). Of course, we weren't able to see everyone we wanted to and people got mad, but I give up. No matter what we do, not everyone will be happy. We enjoyed family though and made it home and back safely. Since then, we have been keeping ourselves busy with school and things to do on the weekend, if not catching up with school. Last weekend we went to Charlotte to see Rent (it was Chris' anniversary present to me) and we hung out there for the weekend. We relaxed and had a nice time and ate WAY too much food. This past weekend we went up to the outlets near Raleigh. This coming weekend, Chris' parents are coming to visit. We are going to take them up where a show was filmed, which will be fun. Then, the following weekend we are going to stay in a condo near the beach, which will be great. Like I said..keeping ourselves busy.
We also started the "Biggest Loser" competition at my school with some of the teachers and the first month ended on Friday. I won for the first month, so that's fun.
Paris started this new "I'm going to throw my food all over the laundry room while Chris and Jamie are gone" phase.
I also am officially afraid of dogs. The incidents here (yes, two of them now) have brought me to this conclusion. I still love them, but with a little more caution now. Don't worry, not ours.
Okay, I will stop rambling on. :)

Oh, the weather outside is....pretty warm. :)
Wow, it's December. Time just flies. We began blocking at my school today, which I think I will like a lot more than I thought.
We went to St. Louis for Thanksgiving, where we enjoyed our holiday with Chris' parents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. It was a good time. We enjoyed getting away for a little while and had an awesome person watch our dog and pick us up from the airport, and another one who got up at 4 to take us to the airport.
Chris decorated our house today for Christmas. :) It makes me want to buy presents for people and put them under the tree. My dad and Dawn sent a box of X-mas stuff, which was so thoughtful. I love getting boxes, and it was a pleasant surprise. So Thanks!
As for Christmas, we have 3 more weeks of school until we are heading to Michigan. I am excited, although I know it will go quickly and be more chaotic than I want it to be. I'm ready to spend more than 2 days with some family though.
If I can leave you with one thing, it would be to not get caught up in all of the chaos of the holidays, rather be thankful and appreciative of what you have been blessed with. Love to all.

Well, chest pains are gone. Halloween was awesome. 4 of my kids came knocking on our door for Halloween, along with many others. It was a good time. We shut the door and more kids came, so we decided to hang out on the porch. We had a few friends over...it was a good time.
On another note..sometimes I hear people's logic and can't help but try to understand it. The longer I think, the more I don't. I can't imagine living the way that so many people live.
I was trying to make a Christmas list today for my mom and realized, again, how blessed I am. Besides the big screen TV and a GPS, there is not a whole lot I really want. I had to stretch myself to come up with 8 things on my list. This makes me happy, but at the same time stressed because I know that I will be yelled at for having such a small list. Oh well.
It's in the mid 70's today...and beautiful. We can't believe how warm it is outside. I was going to get all my work done today and take tomorrow to relax, until I realized that this is just not realistic. I could work today, but have not received any other plans. So, I will wait. I will do some work today and some tomorrow. I will stay sick..probably at least until Thanksgiving break, but more likely until Christmas. I can't stop coughing, but that's nothing new.
I am all over the place today. Sorry.

Okay, Okay... I'll write.
I don't know why I haven't written on here. I enjoy writing. I know writing. Heck, I teach writing. Something about droning on about erroneous things that no one probably cares about, has always stricken me as silly. But now, as I sit here typing, I enjoy it. I enjoy writing.
I love fall. I love fall without snow even more. I've heard from our more northernly counterparts that there is snow up there. I've NEVER had a winter without heaps upon heaps of snow. This makes me excited. I love that we still have all of the colors on our trees, still. Like still as in we STILL have them. It's November 9th. No snow, still color. Also, we have sunshine, which is another weird concept for this time of year for me. Moral of the story, I love the weather here. (Sorry to those who do not love the weather in their current locale.)
Teaching is pretty cool. I love all my little weirdos. They tell me they are not weirdos, but then I still call them weirdos. Tell me you are going to wear pants with shorts underneath them, so you can then have your waist on your thighs and when you run have to hold up your pants so they aren't at your ankles? Sounds like a weirdo to me! I enjoy teaching on a different level than I thought I would though. I like being forced to think. By nature I am a lazy creature. If I am not forced to do something, most of the time I will not do it. Teaching is basically forcing me to read, think, educate, learn, etc. which are all things I enjoy. So yea, it's groovy.
Wii poetry:
I'd like to sit a bit and wii if I could
We wii often, probably more often than I should
There are times, I know wii would be good
I spend too much time though, and Jamie gets mad if I would
So, I'll wii sometimes,
Though wish all my time was wii
I look forward to times,
Where all I do is wii

Oh Fall...
Maybe one of these days Chris will write in here. Sorry to those of you who want to hear about his life. :) I guess this is more my thing anyway.
So tomorrow I have a workday, which will complete the first nine weeks for me. (Chris has already passed this point.) That means that I have survived through 1/4 of my first year teaching!
On another good note, I received a little note in my mailbox today and when I opened it I realized that it was from my principal. She stopped by while we were finishing up our scenery and practicing our Reader's Theater today and then watched the students perform. I was a little bit nervous about what she was thinking to be honest. Kids were sitting on tables finishing decorating the paper covering the chalkboard. Safe? Probably not. I opened up the note and it commented about how I have done a good job of making learning fun for the kids and that she would like to talk to me about it when I have a chance. I guess it was good, but a little part of me is afraid about what she might say. Oh well. Obviously it wasn't terrible, or she would have stopped me right away, I suppose. :)
I have been getting really bad chest pain when I lay down to go to sleep for the past 3 days now. It's usually on the right side and it's sharp shooting pain. I have no idea what it is, but the first night I almost went into the ER. And if you know me, you know that it must have been something because that's not like me. Honestly, it's a little scary. I just keep hoping that it will go away. And by morning, it always does.
So I have Fall Festival tomorrow night at school, but I am only working it until 6:15 so I get to pass out Halloween candy! I'm SO excited! Last year I was excited, but nobody came. :( A few of my kids live really close, so I am interested to see if they show up knocking at my door. Oh well, that's fun. Besides chest pain, things are looking optimistic. I love teaching and my kids...even though they get crazy.

The beach, carving pumpkins, and Wii
Whenever I think about my life, I think about teaching and school. I will not talk any more about that in this post. Rather, the adventures that we have been on.
Chris' sister, Kara was out to visit for 5-6 days. We went to Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach on the Atlantic Ocean while she was here along with one of the girls who is also a teacher at my school. It was wonderful. She has not been feeling herself since she got Mono in January of last year...so, we spoiled ourselves. She envisions a vacation on the beach with a porch looking over the ocean. I am too cheap to think of that. I would stay a few miles from the beach, just so that it is cheaper. It was her vacation, after all. We all split a wonderful room and stayed looking out on the Atlantic Ocean. It was beautiful. We had a wonderful time. We walked around downtown Wilmington (which took one visit until Chris and I fell in love with it), swam in the ocean, sat in a hottub, and much more. It was relaxing, and we were spoiled. Swimming in the ocean brought back so many memories. Yes, it was October and the air was a bit crisp due to the wind. But the water? Wonderful. The hardest part was not getting into the water, rather getting out of it. We had a wonderful time.
I am sitting on my bedroom floor (due to the wireless internet not working anymore), listening to the occasional booms from Fort Braag. It is a weird thing to get used to. Loud booms, rooms shaking. But it is something that we adjusted to rather quickly. There are a few times it still takes me by surprise, to be honest.
As for this weekend, it has been great. I didn't have Math Academy yesterday, so I have been able to enjoy a weekend, probably more than I should have. Friday night, we went to Mis Casita, a fabulous Restaurante Mexicano, with Chris' coworkers, who go there almost every Friday and I am beginning to get sick of it. Then, one of his friends, Charlie, came over. We had a good time playing the Wii and relaxing. Yesterday, we had a pumpking carving party with some people from my school. We cooked out (yes, in October) and enjoyed the company of many of the people I work with. I got to play spoons (one of my favorite games), go to a pumpking patch (which is really pathetic compared to MI pumpkin patches, by the way), play my guitar with one of the boys on the drums, carve my level 4 pumpkin, and just hang out.
I love carving pumpkins. :)
Oh, and we got Paris a Halloween costume that she got to wear. I will try to get pictures up soon.
We have now had 3 times where people have come to visit (including when we moved down). I love visitors. It makes it easier to be so far away.
Life...let's see where you take us.

My senior citizen and I..
It has been a while. I have been very busy. I often think of writing on here, then I think that I only have the same boring things to say...about school and how much I have to do. So, I will say that progress reports are due this week for me, which wouldn't be so bad if I knew how to do them. Also, I just found out that I basically have to take an online class on how to teach writing...you know, in all my spare time.
Okay, enough about school. Chris' sister, Kara, is coming this week and we are really excited. I love it when people visit. :)
In other news, Chris is old now...25. I wanted to buy him a cane for his birthday.
We also finally took one of the weekend trips that we have been planning on doing a lot more. We went to Wilmington, which is by the beach. We stayed at a nice hotel and had a great time. We had a night full of a festival, having dinner on the river, ice cream (so you know I was happy), and more.
The next day, we went to the beach along the Atlantic and it was gorgeous. We have some pictures, but I don't have my camera right now..I will upload them later.
What else have we been doing in our free time? Chris has a few new video games that he spends most of his free time with, we watch as much Heroes and movies as we can (which is not nearly as many these days), and we have also been trying to read more...for us. I love the silly 4th grader books...how perfect that I'm teaching it, huh? So that's what I am reading. They help me relax and have fun.
Let's see...what else? Overall, things are good. I don't really have time to think a whole lot, which might be good. Who knows.
I do miss people, though...and when I think about it, I realize that even if I were around more people, I wouldn't have a whole lot of time to spend with them anyway. I have started to bond with a few girls from my school and we at least have people to hang out with who are in the same situation as us...away from home...wherever that may be.
I have had the opportunity to catch up with some people though, which has been great.
Well, I guess that's all for now. Miss you all.
